Portugal is among my favorite regions, and I agree about the whites. Many port producers have taken up table wines to diversify their portfolios, and white wines are especially top of mind—all thanks to global consumption trends.

In Vinho Verde I loved visiting Aphros, Vasco Croft's biodynamic project on a lush hillside. He maintains an historic winery, non-electrified, which he uses for only a portion of his production. (The wines made there, on the other hand, are "electric.") Alselmo Mendes is another favorite Vinho Verde producer.
